1100 students still not received Saraswati Cycle Yojana in Chhattisgarh

Bemetara/Chhattisgarh : Education session is at the last stop, the annual examination is due in March and 1100 students of Bemerata district have not yet received the benefits of the Saraswati Cycle Yojana in Chhattisgarh state. The students deprived of the scheme are forced to go school on foot. 450 of the district’s Barla block and 735 students of Saza block are waiting for bicycles.

So far, 4800 girls were to be given cycle distribution in the district, but 1100 girls did not get bicycle distribution. Due to code of conduct in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections in October, the distribution was affected.

In Bemetara development block, 1167 bicycles were distributed under Saraswati Cycle Yojana. Of these, 474 Scheduled Castes, 137 Scheduled Tribes, Girl students of 500 Other Backward Classes and 16 BPL have been benefited, in which 200 girl students are yet to be given bicycle distribution.

The worst condition of distribution is of Berla and Saaza. Bicycles have been distributed to 912 girls so far in Berla. 450 girl students are still waiting for bicycles. Bicycles were to be distributed to 1514 girls in Saja, where 50 per cent of the bicycles were not distributed.
