Kolkata police seized 1000 kg explosive substances from goods vehicle

Kolkata : In an operation Kolkata police has seized large number of explosive substances from a goods vehicle. Acting on a tip-off, police officers intercepted a goods vehicle near Tala bridge on the BT Road in the early hours of Saturday and seized 27 gunny bags containing about 1,000 kg of potassium nitrate, the IPS officer said.

Potassium nitrate is used in making explosives. Two persons – the driver and his helper have been arrested, he said. “The vehicle was coming from Odisha and was heading towards North 24 Parganas district.

We have arrested the driver and the helper of the goods vehicle. We are interrogating the duo and trying to find out more details from them,” the officer added.

As the country never forget about Pulwama terror attack has did on last month of 14 Feb. Intelligence department was issued warning report before the attack but central government did not take any serious action against it.

There is very close the general election of India and these kind of attempt may be could distract the issues of elections.

Although, this is not clear yet why this large explosive substances was delivering to the West Bengal state and where it would be used for. But after Pulwama attack the country is on high alert till being general elections.
